Our Story Then & Now

Chillin Out Ice Cream

My name is Erin Bailey (Rodgers), and I am proud to have been born and raised in my small hometown of Little Egg Harbor, NJ. In 2007 at the age of 27, I took a leap of faith and launched my ice cream truck business right here in the community that I grew up. I built my first Ice Cream truck from a retired 1991 school bus and started my business “Chillin Out Ice Cream”. This truck has served as my daily driver for the first 15 years of my business, delivering smiles to my community.

In 2013, my husband and I created our event truck to expand our business by serving larger-scale events, fares, and festivals. It is now featured as our “big kahuna” in our fleet.

In 2022, while retiring the original OG truck, my husband Ken joined me, and we added two additional trucks to our fleet, featured as our “Hybrid Bikini Bottom” and our “Classy Vintage Truck.”

Each truck has features and offerings to satisfy all ages. Since I’ve started this business, I have had the pleasure of serving my community and continuing to enjoy watching generations grow with each passing season.

From day one, it wasn’t just about selling ice cream—it was about creating joy. Every day, as I drove through the streets, I marveled at the smiles on faces of all ages. Those smiles were our inspiration, a daily reminder that even the simplest treat could brighten someone’s day.

Adding to our unique story is Grace, our beloved mascot pet pig. Grace can be found at a number of local events. Everybody is so overjoyed when they get to see Grace and interact with her. With her playful antics and warm, endearing presence, she quickly became the heart of our operation, delighting people of all ages.
